Chanell Alaniz is currently Head of EHS for Cytovance Biologics, a National Safety Company and the state’s largest FDA/cGMP (Contract Development and Manufacturing) CDMO Biomanufacturing/Biopharma facility which offers innovative development and clinical or commercial manufacturing of large molecule APIs from mammalian cell culture, microbial fermentation, and plasmid DNA
After her small family’s evacuation during Hurricane Katrina from Waveland, MS she eventually attended school to study Molecular Biology. She earned an AS in Biology and Biotech Research Associate and transferred to UCO as a cell biology major. She studied Organizational Leadership briefly and found her calling in Occupational Health and Safety.
As a Hurricane Katrina survivor, she is integrity-driven and human-focused. Believing that she can make a difference and protect people and property by lifting and educating those around her.
She is a senior at UCO in OHS with plans to sit for the CSP. She holds certifications in FMEA Incident Command, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Program Management- Lean Process Certification, and Executive Management and has a Texas A&M Hazardous Materials instructor certification.
She has 12 years of scientific experience as a GMP/USP Pharmaceutical Chemist, QC GMP Associate Chemist, and an Enviro Chemist running EPA and NIOSH lead testing for high-level court cases and has third-party certifications in Spectroscopy sciences. Science and safety are interrelated, and she thrives in the Biopharma General Industry. She has been interviewed numerous times involving Hurricane Katrina, Safety in the Body Art industry and was on Option B’s platform for building grit and resiliency by volunteering after disasters occur. It takes meaningful leadership to improve safety and her people are the foundation of any safety program.
